LESSER-KNOWN KOREAN SKINCARE BRANDS WORTH INVESTING IN

KATHERINE SPOWART on JULY 28, 2020

I decided I wanted to shine a spotlight on some of the Korean skincare brands that are lesser-known in the wider beauty community. These days, almost everyone has heard of Dr. Jart or Innisfree but the smaller brands I’m writing about today have created some of my favorite products on the market. These brands are probably familiar to K-beauty aficionados, but I hope that for those of you who are Korean skincare newbies, or not necessarily deeply involved in the Korean skincare Instagram circles, I can share some exciting new discoveries.

D’ALBA PIEDMONT

D’Alba Piedmont is a brand with a small but high quality collection of products. Their star ingredient is white truffle which is used for promoting cell renewal and brightening of the skin.

Favorites:

White Truffle First Spray Serum

This is easily the brand’s most well-known product and for good reason! It’s a moisturizing serum in spray form, which is ideal for achieving that healthy, glowy complexion. I like to use it after applying a toner or as a refresher during the day and I find that it leaves my skin perfectly moisturized and revitalized.

Peptide No-Sebum Balancing Toner

This was a very pleasant surprise for me and a toner I’ve come to love. It’s a balancing toner aimed at combination or oily skin, with a healthy pH of 5.6. While it’s a thin, watery consistency, it really packs a punch for hydrating the skin. I use it both for day and night and it really helps to keep my skin feeling soft and balanced.

CELIMAX

If you frequent the Korean skincare Instagram community, you have definitely heard of Celimax! But realistically they are still quite a small brand that I definitely wanted to include on this list.

Favorites:

Celimax Derma Nature Fresh Blackhead Jojoba Cleansing Oil

This is one of the most efficient cleaning oils I have ever used. It’s a perfect consistency that’s not too thin or too thick, and removes makeup extremely well. It emulsifies easily and rinses clean, making it a super functional and effective option for cleansing.

BHA Ji Woo Gae Heartleaf Peeling Pads

There are a million different peeling pads on the market but these have stood out the strongest to me. They have dual function with a gauze side for physical exfoliation and a soft side for toning. They help to keep my skin exfoliated, soft, smooth and they’re gentle enough for daily use if you wish. You also get 60 pads in a tub which is double the amount of typical 30-pad tubs.

The Real Noni Energy Ampule

This bright green ampoule is such a gorgeous, calming serum-type product. It’s more of a heavyweight option for intensive moisturizing and it helps to keep my dry patches at bay. It does leave my skin feeling slightly tacky but it layers well for an evening routine.

Have you tried any of these products?
